Whew

At some point last week, I really was questioning the third dog. I was beginning to doubt that they would ever get along and was worried that I completely threw off the alpha dog situation at my house.

After many gradual introductions we finally can have all three together without constant supervision. In fact they have been outside, at lengths, alone, with no problems.

Aren't they cute?????

Progress!

Things are going much better. We can actually have all three dogs in the same room at the same time. I may get to post a picture of all three of them together.

Frankie and Jack are still a bit leary of each other. I'm a little scared to leave them alone for more than a few minutes without someone in the room. But they are just figuring out their pecking order in the dog pack.....right?

Here's hoping.

They like to open the mail for me

They have been banned from the front room during the day.

Bad dogs.

Frankie is not amused

Introductions are going slow over here. Ginger has taken to the new guy quite nicely. Frankie just simply hates him.

The initial meeting resulted in Frankie nipping at Jack's hiney. Way to make a first impression. Since then there has been lots of barking, growling, poking and prodding, intently staring and attempted nips.

I didn't realize this would be so hard.

I scoured the internet yesterday looking for advice on introducing a new dog and found a good article here from the humane society. It says you should take your dogs to a neutral location first to get them use to each other, which sounds good in theory. If only the Humane Society knew my dog. Let's just say it didn't work. Frankie nearly choked himself (ya he was wearing a harness too, not a collar) trying to get to Jack.

Today we put the dogs in the living room together regulating with a squirt bottle and alternating with treats when necessary. There was progress...slow, slow progress.

Three's a crowd

I have two dogs. Dachshunds to be exact. Frankie is a 3 year old male black and tan and Ginger is a 2 year old female red.

These are not normal dogs. They are whiny, bratty, spoiled, bark at everything, annoy the neighbors, hate strangers, destroy furniture, eat bad things, pee on the floor, carsick kind of dogs. And what did I do? Got another one.

Yeah, I have three dogs. His name is Jack.
